Mijn welgemeende excuses voor mijn onaangekondigde blogstilte de afgelopen week. Ik ben terug in het koude kikkerlandje na een onvergetelijke ervaring in de Filipijnen, woon plots ergens anders en vind het nogal moeilijk om mijn jetlag te overleven. Maar we komen er wel, bear with me. Vandaag een currently voor jullie, omdat ik wel wat dingetjes te delen heb. Een postje in het Engels dus.

English// Sorry for my unannounced radio silence over the past week. It's been so hard adjusting to Belgian time once again, and my jetlag has been killing me. Slowly but surely, life is getting back to normal though. Because I have some things I want to share, I decided to do another one of these 'Currently' tags.

Wearing
Comfy to the max! A fluffy jumper and my pajama pants. (It's Sunday, 3:30pm when I'm filling this in, so I'm allowed after an epic weekend!)

Drinking
Water water water to cure a slight hangover.

Eating
The bf made vanilla icecream this morning, so guess what I'm eating for desert tonight? At this moment I have a bowl of radishes next to me, yum.

Listening
I'm addicted to Deezer, since it's so easy to make your own playlists and save songs/artists/albums for later. So I'm listening to my 'chill' playlist. If you're looking for someone with an amazing taste in music though, you should visit Laura's blog and listen to the tunes she selects!

Reading
The last pages in Nick Hornby's A Long Way Down. Awesome concept for a book, if you ask me. It's about four totally different characters, who meet for the first time at the top of the most popular suicide spot in London. On New Year's Eve. Really curious to read how it ends. So far I'm thoroughly enjoying it!



Watching
I started rewatching Lost. 120 episodes, not a good idea. I'm currently somewhere around episode 10, but can already see why I loved it so much the first time. I love Charlie! Also watching Real Humans, a Swedish sci-fi series about robot future gone wrong. So far, so good! Looking for something else to watch with the bf though, so if any of you have a recommendation for something to watch on Netflix?

Wanting
We're decorating our new place. We have a lot more space and it seems like our furniture can't fill it up quite. So we're saving up for a bigger sofa and a kitchen island (is that what you call it in English?)

Loving
To be back in the country that I know, where strangers don't stare at me like I'm some kind of alien. And of course it's nice to be surrounded by the people you love. And to be able to talk in your mother tongue, give hugs and share stories. What I also love is the fact that I got this amazing opportunity and have had all these crazy experiences at the other end of the world.

Feeling
A bit stressed out (because of my thesis and the fact that getting my bachelor's degree is coming so close, so I can't f*ck it up now!)

Mijn blog bestaat vijf jaar! Crazy! Ik dacht dat het wel eens leuk zou zijn om in mijn archief te graven, vandaar vandaag vijf blogposts from ma past! Enjoy!

In april 2010 kocht ik dit mooie tweedehands kleedje. Lang mijn favoriet geweest, nu puilt de boezem (en dat niet alleen) er helaas uit.


In April 2011 maakte ik een sloppelpopje voor één van jullie! Fijn om te maken, en ik vind haar nog altijd heel schattig.




Mijn ouwe getrouwe Voigtländer komt uit het jaar des heeren 1970, maar ik vond hem pas in de kringloopwinkel in april 2012. Zo'n schoon machien, maar ik moet tot mijn schaamte bekennen dat er nog altijd hetzelfde filmrolletje in zit als toen.. Dringend tijd om eens te bekijken wat er op staat, me dunkt!



Ik maakte duizend omkeerbare zakskes en was zeer trots op mijn vlijtige naaikunsten in april 2013.



En vorig jaar startte ik op 1 april 2014 mijn tweede Project 365, waarbij ik elke dag een foto maak van mijn leventje. Ik startte het project met dit zelfportret.

Gisteren spitte ik via archive.org mijn blogverleden nog eens door. Gewoon, omdat ik dat plezant vind, en hilarisch. Wist u dat ik al begon met bloggen toen ik 10 was? Ik ben eigenlijk nooit gestopt, maar wel vaak veranderd van platform. Van kinderlines (put yo hands up als ge dit ook hebt gebruikt!) naar mijn eigen hosting naar web-log naar blogspot. * Ondertussen blog ik dus al langer dan 13 jaar (say whaaaaat?!) en ik ben het nog altijd niet beu. Kunt ge dat nu geloven?

Hi y'all! This will be a super short blogpost. I know I'm a couple of days late, but I still want to wish you a few last amaaazing and awesome days of 2014! Even een kort berichtje tussendoor om jullie voor te stellen aan Sew It Up, een online naaiwedstrijd voor Belgen en Nederlanders. Superfijn initiatief! Caroline en Hanne organiseren de wedstrijd nu al voor de tweede keer en 't is een groot succes.
(Ik zal eerlijk zijn, ik solliciteerde de eerste keer ook naar een deelname, maar viel er helaas buiten. Toen ik de andere kandidaten zag die erbij zaten, was ik blij dat ik het daar niet tegen moest opnemen, hah! Zo ver gevorderd zijn mijn naaiskills helemaal nog niet!)

De wedstrijd loopt 5 weken en elke week is er een thema waarrond de deelnemende dames iets in mekaar moeten flansen. Vorige week maakten ze allemaal iets in de stijl van de jaren '20 (graaf!) en voor de volgende opdrachten moeten ze zich onder andere laten inspireren door films, foto's uit hun kindertijd en mogen ze helemaal losgaan in hun persoonlijke stijl.

Een wedstrijd zou een wedstrijd natuurlijk niet zijn zonder winnaar. Daarom mag het publiek mee stemmen op de creaties. Dat wordt samengeteld met de stemmen van de jury en die van de deelnemers zelf. Elke week valt er dus iemand af, en na 5 weken kennen we de winnaar!



Heel spannend, en ik volg het op de voet, want mijn blogmaatje Lieke doet ook mee!

Stemmen voor deze week kan helaas niet meer, maar als jij ook helemaal in de ban bent van het naaien - of het gewoon fijn vindt om mooie creaties te spotten, dan raad ik je aan om eens te gaan piepen op de website van Sew It Up!

On February 12 I'll turn 23. Since I won't be doing anything special (other than school & a drink at night) I thought it would be fun to get home to fun birthday mail!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I participated in the 100 things summer challenge, organized by Jelle and a few other bloggers. The idea was to get rid of 100 things during summer. And I have to say, I did quite well!

If you want to easily succeed these kinds of projects: move out/in! It's perfect.

In total I got rid of 211 things, I gave away 118 and sold 72 items. (Well, not yet, they're still in boxes, ready to be given away to the thrift store & ready to be sold in a closet/yard sale or flea market!) The other stuff was thrown away because it was broken or expired. Most of the things I'm going to sell is clothing. But I'm kind of an awful hoarder. I also threw out SO much paper and fabric scraps.
I bought/received as a gift 16 items over these past two months.

That makes a total of 195 things less!

I'm pretty proud of myself and think I'm going to keep going in Autumn, Winter and Spring. Maybe 100 things less is a bit too much, but I'll at least think about my consumption a lot more.

Have you participated as well? And if you did: how do you feel now? Do you feel sort of liberated of all this stuff as well? There was so much that I didn't really need of which I'm so happy that I just threw it out :)

Rust in mijn hoofd. Heerlijk.

Hi guys! How was your week?

For the next 3 weeks I don't have to go to school (yay, vacation!!) and I have a lot of fun stuff planned in. Also a lot of writing is (which is also fun!) on the to-do list. How about you? Do you have plans for the holidays?

Hi guys! How do you like the new lay-out? I was going for a less chaotic & more organized look, and hope that turned out as planned! What do you think? If you have any tips or suggestions, don't hesitate to let me know in the comments!

Three exams left: one tomorrow, two on Tuesday.
Hurray hurray, because after that: vacation! Finally some more time to do the things I really enjoy doing. Like reading, sleeping, partying, writing letters, sewing, spending time with the boyfriend, ... I can't wait!

Oh yeah, and it's raining. Again.

As you can see, I drastically changed my lay-out.

I recommend using Chrome or Firefox and screen resolution 1366 x 768, because in Internet Explorer the new lay-out looks horrible! (and won't work correctly) Ha ha.

The manual for using the blog correctly might come in handy :)
