SENT OUT
To Ely:
A little package swap I sent to Ely, including a handmade postcard, a vintage postcard, a sewn book in which she can draw & write and some fabric tape. I did an attempt at embellishing the envelope! Nice try, huh?
To Fab:
A llama envelope! I found the illustration in one of my vintage books and figured out Fab would appreciate this one :) I sent her a long letter on my handmade (!) stationary, it's supposed to be an owl, kind of.. Ha ha.
To Saar:
For the refashion project, I wanted to surprise Saar with some fabric scraps I had left. I love that illustration with the mouse.
To Marlou:
Marlou moved to Brussels to study Journalism here in Belgium! So awesome, I hope we get to meet again soon :) I found some amazing post cards from
'Manneken Pis' in the thrift shop and immediately thought of her.
RECEIVED
From Jolien:
The last response from Jolien (for now, at least). Her mail is always so colourful and fun :) She even sent me a photo frame (with an adorable little cat sticker)
From Saar:
I adore the letters that Saar sends me. Unbelievable but true, her letters seem to be quicker than an e-mail.. Haha! The little turquoise squid/jellyfish brooch is so cute, I'll wear it with pride!
From Mary:
Two weeks ago I posted my letter I sent out to Mary, and I was so scared that it got eaten by the post, that I was thrilled to find this envelope in my mailbox a few days later! It's so interesting to read and see everything about her life. She made the most adorable flower stickers e-ver and included a quote by
Blaise Pascal.
Have you received and sent out mail lately?
Fabric scraps become a postcard for
Marlou!

Very simple and easy. All you need is a piece of cardboard, some fabric scraps and thread & needle or a sewing machine. Sew the scraps on to the card and you're done! There is your personalized card!
I found this sweater in T2 the other day and really liked the pattern, but it was waaaaay too big.

So half an hour later I had this left.

And a new cowl/circle scarf.

Pretty with those brooches, right?
Saar made the turquoise squid, and
Eline made the fox. I'm in love with both (the brooches, not the girls ;-) )

And a new pair of mittens.

P.S. This is the 200th post on this blog! Let's all party! Me gusta.
Another dress I refashioned for the
Refashion Challenge :)
I like the fabric of this dress so much, but it's short and strapless, so I didn't dare to wear it (I've seen
Snooki's boobs fall out of strapless tops and dresses way too much to risk it ;-) )
With the lace
Saar sent me I could easily make some pretty straps. Easy fix!

Too bad the weather has been 'rather' bad these last few days.. Well, on to the next refashion then! An old sweater will be involved!
My
first refashioned item for the
'Refashion challenge' is this dress. You might remember it from my 'Kleedjesproject' (
dress 1,
dress 2,
dress 3).
I made it out of a white top and an old dress that was waaaay to big. I chopped off the top right below my bust and attached some elastic to it. Then I attached the skirt part of the dress & shortened it. Et voilà : new dress!
Before:
After:
yeah, standing in the middle of the street is kind of awkward..
photographs by my sister, Jolien!
The
second thing I made were these handmade fabric tapes. All you need is fabric scraps, scissors and double-sided tape (I bought mine at
'den Action'). You can read more about it over
here.

A little introduction to those of you who are not familiar with this term might be necessary.. Just like last year (you can find those posts by clicking
here I decided to participate in the
"Refashion challenge", organised by
Boomie. This initiative is about reusing fabrics for sewing and to recycle clothes or other textiles this way. Perfect for me, because I love recycling old (clothing) items and creating something else with it :)
This year, the refashion challenge will start on September 17 & stop on September 31st.
Last year I made these items (not only in these 14 days) // Vorig jaar maakte ik deze items (ook buiten de veertiendaagse):

You can find the button in the sidebar on your right, feel free to participate as well! & be sure to stop by this blog next week to spot all the refashioned items :)
Hi guys! How do you like the new lay-out? I was going for a less chaotic & more organized look, and hope that turned out as planned! What do you think? If you have any tips or suggestions, don't hesitate to let me know in the comments!
Today I have no snail mail related items to show you, simply because I didn't write any letters this week.. Tsss, bad Elisse. But I promise I'll write and send my letters next week, my dearest penpals!
In the meantime, please enjoy the lovely weather today! I'm off to stroll around town at the
Markt van Morgen & have a nice lunch with my boyfriend and his colleagues. See you soon!
Hi there! How is everyone doing out here? Now that my resits are over, I've been sewing like a crazy person, so you can expect a lot of handmade stuff on the blog. Let's start with these two beauties. I made these reversible totebags as gifts for friends.
This one was for Nicky, one of my closest friends - & kind of an owl freak, like me. I got the owl fabric from
Tine.

This larger version was for my sister's birthday. I got the owl fabric from my mom & dad, they bought it in a fabric store in Denmark.

So, what do you think?
Enjoy your weekend! (that can't be very hard considering the temperatures will be aaaaaaaaawesome!)
