Only 342 more days to go and it's my birthday again ;-)
Last year's list was a lot of fun to try to complete, so this year will be no different. I made a list with 23 things I want to accomplish before turning 24. I'll make a separate page for the list where I'll keep myself (& you if you're interested!) updated about the progress I make.

As you can see below, I incorporated some of the items I couldn't cross of last year, but I also came up with new ones to help me get back on track with my health, crafts and even my blog. I hope this list will give me the extra push I need to get certain things done.

I can't wait to see what this new year of wisdom - haha - will bring me.

Did you make a list with things you want to complete before your next birthday? If so, what's the thing that you're struggling most with?

Take care & I'll talk to you soon!

A few weeks ago me and my family took a trip to the lovely island CuraƧao. We had a blast, and here I finally am with a little impression of our holiday. The pictures and little movie I made speak for themselves, so enjoy!

I hope you have a wonderful week!
Last year I made a list with 22 things I wanted to accomplish before turning 23. On Feb 12th it was my birthday so it's about time to check on how I did!

1. Finish my first year of Journalism without resits
I had 0 resits, woo-hoo!

2. Stop eating fast food for at least a month
This one was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. I didn't miss fastfood all that much!

3. Take a month off of Facebook (4x one week, week 1, week 2)
This one on the other hand was a lot more difficult. It's incredible how much time I can waste on Facebook (& other social media). The weeks that I did disappear I felt a lot less obliged to do this or that, and it wasn't like anything major had happened what so ever without me being online 24/7 to check out everyone's profile. I feel like I learned a lot from these two weeks absence, and that was my intention, so I consider this one checked off as well!

4. Try a new recipe every month: 13/13
I tried out 13 new recipes. My fave has to be the scampi diabolique. It's soooo yummy.
(sugarfree sand cookies, yummy couscous, nutella cookies, white chocolate mousse, rhubarb crumble with coconut, mushroom soup, roasted egg plants, shrimp pasta with cream sauce, pepper soup with cream, vegetarian lasagna, scampi diabolique, pumpkin quiche, banana ice cream)

5. Try 22 different types of cocktails: 19/22
I didn't try 22 different cocktails, but I sure enjoyed the ones I tried. I'm a sucker for cocktails.
(red cairpiroska, nana banana, mango charango, brazilian night, homemade mojito, gin tonic, flying kangaroo, mexicano mex, mojino (mojito + caipirinha), mojicetea, elixir d'anvers daisy, banana daiquiri, basil, tom collins, frozen strawberry margarita, russian knockout, bananarama, coco bango, strawberry daiquiri)

6. Read 10 books: 12/10
Yay! I'm definitely back into reading. It took me a while to figure out how to make time for reading, but now I try to squeeze in a little bit of reading every other day. It relaxes me and I take so much pleasure out of reading a good book.
(Hoe de wereld perfect functioneert zonder mij - Joost Vandecasteele, Bezonken Rood - Jeroen Brouwers, Hersenschimmen - Bernlef, Komt een vrouw bij de dokter - Kluun, De ondraaglijke lichtheid van het bestaan - Milan Kundera, Turks Fruit - Jan Wolkers, When God was a Rabbit - Sarah Winman, Hoe het licht binnenvalt - M.J. Hyland, Medereizigers - A.H. Nijhoff, The Virgin Suicides - Jeffrey Eugenides, A Home at the End of the world - Michael Cunningham, Tongkat - Peter Verhelst)

7. Sew/knit/craft 12 things for myself: 13/12
This one wasn't too hard on me! I still feel as though I didn't create that many new items for myself… I guess that's just me.
(owl brooch, peacock feather brooch, totebag, dress, kimono box top, lace necklace, fabric scraps ring, owl brooch, batwing blouse, nespresso brooches, soda can brooch, pajama pants, styrofoam earring holder)

8. Make a stop-motion movie
9. Go on a road trip
I did neither. This year I want to make sure these ones get striped off!

10. Go camping with the bf
Yup! And I blogged about our little adventure in Calais here.

11. Move in with the bf(!)
♥♥♥

12. Get a tattoo
Nope. I still haven't figured out the perfect design (of course it has to be some sort of owl), but 2014 is the year!

13. (Learn how to) develop my own film
14. Experiment with analogue photography
These are two goals that I feel a bit sad about. I didn't incorporate photography in my life as much as I would like to, so I'm hoping that this year will bring a lot more photography projects!

15. Fill up 3 disposable cameras (& get them developed)
I filled up 3 disposable cameras, but 2 of them are still waiting to get developed. Results from the first batch you can check out here.

16. Dye my hair a different color
Check, I dyed my hair dark red!

17. Organize a swap party
This one would 've been fun. But after a few months, I wasn't really sure I actually wanted to do this. I have waaaaay too much clothes, so it's better for me to sell or donate them, other than just stuffing my closet with more clothes I barely wear.

18. Throw another costume party/have a theme party
I dressed up as a mexican sugar skull, my friend dressed up as a bloody nurse and we were the only ones dressed up at a party. It was hilarious!

19. Have a picnic
20. Go roller skating at least 3 times
I didn't go on a picnic nor roller skating once last year. Such a shame and something I definitely have to fix, because I love both activities.

21. Get an awesome student job
From February til August I worked at a pancake house, which was lovely. But after my move I started a job in a place that is waaaay closer to my house, and where I earn a bit more. So this one is definitely a check!

22. Get rid of the clutter (and way too much clothes) in my room
To be completely honest, I didn't really get rid of it just yet. All the stuff is still laying in my old room, waiting to be donated or thrown away. But, uuuh, I sorted everything out, so for me: it counts!

I made 12 resolutions come true, so maybe I expected a bit too much from myself. Challenging yourself is a good idea, if you can make it work. I'll keep that in mind for my 23 before 24 list, which will appear online somewhere next week. Stay tuned!

Take care & talk to you soon!

How did you do on week 3? If you want to check out the other participants, click this link for an overview.

Enjoy your Wednesday! & talk to you soon!
Remember the Bucket list I made two months ago? Last month I was able to stripe off 4 goals. This past month I did a bit better.

1. watch snowflakes fall down
2. put up a Christmas tree
3. decorate home a little more
4. make a snowman
5. have a snowball fight
6. catch snowflakes on my tongue
7. make flannel pj bottoms
8. bake a pie
9. curl up under a blanket with a good book
10. go ice skating
11. do a photo shoot outside

12. watch a whole season of a series
13. discover new kinds of tea
14. boardgame night! (or: family game night!)
15. finally donate all my old clothes to charity
16. print my project 365 and put the photos in a book
17. try to make ice ribbons
18. find a place for our record player and play some tunes
19. make hot coco with marshmallows
20. bake bagels
21. mail little presents to my penpals

1, 4, 5, 6 & 17 have been rather difficult since I haven't spotted a single snowflake yet. WHEN IS IT GOING TO BE WINTER FOR REALZ?!

3. YES!!!

9. I read Phileine zegt sorry by Ronald Giphart in two days, under my blanket in between the studying. Felt so nice being back in my zen reading space. Oh I've also made a Goodreads account, in case you want to follow up on what I've been reading and how I liked it.

10. Yeeeessss!!! And we had so much fun!

11. Since my beloved camera is no more (rip my friend), I don't think I'll be able to cross this one off just yet!

12. Skins (UK) season 1: done. Skins (UK) season 2: done. Working on season 3.
(Also, I need to finish Girls season 2!)

13. Over these past few weeks I've tried out Darjeeling, Green Tea Grapefruit, Cranberry, Clipper, …

14. While we were on holiday, we did play some boardgames!

16. I bought a book & supplies to put all my photos in. But I haven't printed them nor started putting them in.

Slowly but surely, I'm getting there. A month to go for 11 more things. If it starts snowing anytime soon, this should work. If not, then I'm failing miserably ;-)

How has your Winter been so far? And how are your New Year's resolutions going - if you made some?
I participated in Fab's Secret Penpal Scavenger Hunt again this year. My victim was Michelle. Her blog, Seaweed Kisses is one I've been following ever since I started getting into snail mail. Definitely worth to check out! Click here to check out what I received from Andreia (Filateliaa).

I sent her 5 packages, a gift and of course a letter. Let us see that up close.

» the journaling kit: an owl notebook and a handmade notebook for Michelle

» the mail art kit: handmade stationary, used stamps, stickers and a collection of washi tapes.

» the happy day kit: with fake mustaches, a sesame bar, a face mask, a little umbrella to put in a smoothie (or cocktail if you will) and a lucky doll

» something quirky: I got a big paper easter egg with colorful dots all over it, but unfortunately I forgot to take a picture...
» something that represents me (and you!): I made Michelle a colorful tea wallet (with a super cute button, right?) because she said she liked tea so much and included four - hopefully unknown to her - kinds of tea.

» a letter

» a gift: I found this polkadot envelope map and colorful stationary goodies that I thought she would like.

I hope Michelle likes what I picked out! I had a lot of fun collecting all these items and wrapping them nicely, so this is definitely something I want to do for years to come! Thank you Fab for organizing yet another successful edition!

ps. If you want to send me a birthday card, click here.
Weih weih, my beloved camera broke down while I was in CuraƧao. A new body costs a lot of money, so for now it'll just be iPhone pics I'm afraid… Let's take a look at what my second week looked like!

image made by me

006 - 06/02 - mail
our mailbox in CuraƧao

007 - 07/02 - time
we were on a boat, where i got sick and it felt as if we would never ever leave the boat again. time stood still for me. (turns out i'm not really a boat kinda gal!)

008 - 08/02 - jump
this one cracks me up. love you, sista!

009 - 09/02 - beloved
after a looooooong flight, finally home and cuddling with the cats & bf

010 - 10/02 - me-time
jetlag. cute socks + flannel pj + cats + cuddles on the couch = perfect me-time

011 - 11/02 - hidden
technically, this isn't a picture i made that day. i felt horrible because my lips were sunburnt (= twice the size they normally are!) and it hurt so much. so here's a photo of me hiding my (awful & sore-looking) lips.

How did you do on week 2?

I hope everyone is doing well. Talk to you soon!
Recycle, recycle, recycle. Today I want to share with you this super easy & fast DIY that takes literally 10 minutes to do and instantly makes your earring collection pop.

So join in on the fun and make your own unique stud earring holder!

Things you'll need:

» piece of styrofoam (tiny leftovers from packaging will do)
» piece of fabric big enough to cover your styrofoam
» (fabric) scissors
» pins
» stud earrings (duh)

Let's get started!

1. Put your styrofoam onto your fabric and cut out a square piece of fabric, leaving 5-10cm at the sides. Optional, but not necessary: cut off the corners of your fabric (that way you don't have to pin through that many layers)

2. Lay your fabric right side up and put your styrofoam on top. Start tucking in the sides and pin them.

3. Poke in your stud earrings. & You're done! Now you can place/hang your brand new earring holder some place nice, et voilĆ .

4. I like mine the way it is, but you could also attach your fabric holder to a photo frame, like Eline did here.

See, wasn't this the easiest DIY ever?

Pssst!!! Don't use regular crafting glue (instead of pins) on styrofoam, since it will melt the styrofoam. (I learned from experience) Pins will really do the job just fine.

Do you have a nice way to show your jewelry?
Talk to you later!
I participated in Fab's Secret Penpal Scavenger Hunt again this year.

Today I want to share with you what I received from the lovely Andreia from Filateliaa. You can also check her out on instagram.

I decided to try out something I've never done before: make a little film! It turned out quite blurry and suuuuper unprofessional, but I'm still learning guys. Anyway, I received the most lovely gifts and feel blessed for having such an amazing secret penpal. Thank you so much Andreia.

ps. Excuse the cat paws from time to time. They were a bit curious as well!

Take care! Talk to you soon!
Here I am with update #1 on the February photo challenge. Since I'm on vacation right now, my photos aren't top notch quality because I don't have Adobe Photoshop here so I can't quite tune my images in RAW. That's why you'll have to deal with these ones for now. ;-)

001 - 01/02 - lines
Saturday was a day of getting up early, catching a flight and sitting on a plane for 10 hours straight. This photo is taken after we've arrived at our rental house in CuraƧao.

002 - 02/02 - repetition
Private pool. YOLO, right?(!)

003 - 03/02 - air
Ahh, the beach.

004 - 04/02 - reflection
I can see clearly now the rain is gone.

005 - 05/02 - selfportrait
We climbed the Christoffelberg (377m) and I felt invincible after reaching the top.

How is the project coming along for you?

Hope everyone is well. Talk to you soon!

ps. I also decided to start another Project 365, I'm really curious to see if I can finish this year's project without any forgotten days!
pps. Happy birthday my love ♥

Oh how I love vacation days.

9am
Waking up & having breakfast.

10am
Off to the store to get stuff I don't really need. After that: go for a run. (First time after 2 weeks of zero physical activity. Blogging about it is a good motivation for me, because then I feel more obliged to do it. Does that make sense?)

11am
Shower time & doing the household.

12am
Cuddling with cats & reading.

1pm
Making another pencil case (I'm addicted).

2pm
On the bike & at the thrift shop.

3pm
Shopping with my sista. (We didn't buy these hats, even though they looked super sassy!)

4pm
Back home with a nice cup of tea and a book.

5pm - 6pm
Preparing blogposts, editing photos, experimenting with new layouts, … (oh, and having diner of course!)

7pm - 8pm - 9pm
Picking up my sista to go ice skating. We had a blast.

10pm - 12am
Cuddling with the bf, dozing off on the couch, thinking about how wonderful today was, …

I'm thinking about making these a monthly series. What do you think?

Take care! Talk to you soon!

ps. I'm in CuraƧao since Feb 1st, so it might take a while for me to answer questions. I'm sorry about the inconvenience and will try to get back at you asap ;-)
