Begin 2018 maakte ik weer een resem plannen: stoute plannen, mooie dromen en dingen die ik stiekem wel zou willen maar misschien niet zou durven. Het jaar bij uitstek om mezelf een schop onder de kont te geven en er werk van te maken!

Op deze pagina kunt ge mijn tussenstand bekijken - ik werk de pagina regelmatig bij - maar ik vind het ook wel eens tof om een uitgebreide update te doen. Voilà!

In april ging ik op wijvenweekend naar Noord-Brabant om een weekend door te brengen op een vlot. Vlotkamperen, als het ware. Wij hebben hoerensjans gehad met het weer, en het werd een weekend vol kanovaren, bij zonsopgang  pissen op de pispot buiten, hoentjes spotten, snoeperdoekjes en veel gelach. Als jullie zin hebben in een verslagje, dan wil ik het gerust wat uitgebreider omschrijven. Want het was leuuuuuk!

Hoi piepeloi! We zijn maart, de maand waarin de lente start, de maand waarin het jaar eindelijk deftig van start gaat (januari is zo de maand van "yes, goeie voornemens", februari is dan de maand waarin ge den helft van die goede voornemens alweer vergeten zijt en de moed u in de schoenen zakt, en in maart begint ge dan met hernieuwde moed aant jaar. Allez, zo denk ik toch dat het er bij veel mensen aan toe gaat in hun hoofd.), kortom: een maand waar ik volop naar uitkijk!

Begin januari maakte ik een lijstje met 19 dingen die ik wil doen voordat 2019 van start gaat, om de twee maanden zal ik u berichten met een update. Hoe ver staat het met die lijst, welke puntjes maken vorderingen, enzovoorts.

Ik ging begin februari 10 dagen naar Curaçao, en dat is natuurlijk een reis buiten Europa, dus technisch gesproken kan ik dit puntje afvinken, maar ik had eigenlijk iets anders in mijn hoofd toen ik dit puntje opstelde. We gaan natuurlijk zien in hoeverre die andere reis nog mogelijk is, gezien ik de helft van mijn vakantiedagen er dit jaar al heb doorgejaagd... ;-)

Ik nam mijn kanon mee op vakantie en maakte daar heel wat plaatjes. Onder andere portretfoto's van mijn zus (die echt heel vet zijn geworden vind ik zelf) en een hele fotoreeks tijdens Curaçao Carnaval die ge eerder deze week al kon zien. Dus yep, voorlopig ben ik goed bezig, maar eens kijken of we dit tot het einde van het jaar kunnen volhouden.

9. een cursus of workshop volgen
De cursus die ik wilde volgen, zit al een tijdje vol. Ik blijf nog even verder zoeken! Als iemand tips heeft voor een weekendcursus pottenbakken/keramiek in het Antwerpse, give me a ping!

10. verhuizen van blogger naar Wordpress
Eind februari maakte ik een kleine crisis door, toen mijn lay-out het van de een op andere dag het plots liet afweten. Ik ben dat spelleke meer dan beu met die vreselijk onhandige editor ook, en in het verleden maakte ik zelfs met html en css mijn eigen lay-outs (zeer basic allemaal, en zo goed als allemaal verleerd, maar toch!) dus ik heb wel zin om naar een platform over te stappen waar ik wat meer vrijheid heb en meer mijn eigen ding kan doen.

13. een nacht op een onconventionele plaats spenderen
Er is een weekendje geboekt, ik ga samen met de wijvekes vlotkamperen! Heel veel zin in! Er volgt uiteraard een verslagje met mijn ervaring.

Goed begonnen is half gewonnen. 40 Dagen Bloggen zorgt voor een geweldige boost op blogvlak, en da's geweldig plezant!

Benieuwd hoe het er mee staat? Ik stel u af en toe op de hoogte via een blogpost, daarnaast zal ik dit lijstje ook hier verder bijhouden.

Dit bericht verschijnt tijdens 40 Dagen Bloggen. De naam zegt het zelf, ik blog 40 dagen aan een stuk. Tussen 14 februari en 1 april vindt ge op bij gebrek aan beter 40 posts. Ik ben fan van lijstjes. Dat had u misschien al door. Ik heb jarenlang elk jaar trouw een ... before ...-lijstje opgesteld. Het helpt mij om zaken te prioriteren in mijn leven. Wat vind ik het belangrijkste, wat wil ik dit (levens)jaar doen en wat wil ik bereikt hebben. Een lijstje helpt mij om wat orde in mijn hoofd te scheppen, en af en toe geeft het mij ook de nodige schop onder mijn kont om in actie te schieten. Dus dit jaar presenteer ik u: 19 things before 2019!

Een paar jaar geleden ging ik al eens met mijn lief naar het spookdorp Doel, en ik vond dat zo'n leuke, bizarre belevenis, dat ik graag wat meer aan urban exploring ga doen. Het lijkt me bijvoorbeeld heel leuk om eens terug te gaan naar het Land Van Ooit, een attractiepark voor kinderen dat sinds een tijdje gesloten is voor het publiek, verlaten is door de mens, en er een heel stuk "creepier" uitziet dan vroeger.

8. fotografie weer oppikken
Spreekt voor zich, ik wil nieuwe technieken leren en mijn fototoestel veel vaker vastpakken dit jaar.

9. een cursus of workshop volgen
Ik weet stiekem al welke, maar ik verklap het lekker nog niet...

Ook dat spreekt voor zich, na 8 jaar wordt het tijd om Blogger vaarwel te zeggen en over te stappen naar een systeem dat veel vrijer is.

Op blogvlak heb ik ook een doel voor mezelf gesteld. In 2016 en 2017 was ik een abonimabele blogger. In 2016 verschenen er 32 posts online, in 2017 slechts 17... En hier op dit stekkie blog ik al sinds 2010, ik heb dat ook altijd graag gedaan, en ik heb het de afgelopen jaren absoluut gemist. Hoog tijd om dus terug wat leven in de brouwerij te brengen. In 2018 wil ik elke week (minstens) één keer per week een post online gooien. Hoppa!

Ik heb nog maar 4 puntjes kunnen afstrepen. Gene vette, als u 't mij vraagt. En toch stoort mij het niet echt. (Wel een beetje toen ik deze post aan het schrijven was.)

Eh, dus ja. Zoals u ziet loopt het echte leven soms wat in de weg van lijstjes. Er zijn dingen waar ik nu al niet meer zoveel waarde aan hecht als zes maanden geleden, en waarvan ik redelijk zeker ben dat ik ze niet zal kunnen afvinken in februari 2016. Maar dat vind ik precies allemaal niet zo erg. Ik ben aan het genieten van dit jaar en ik zie wel wat er komen gaat.

Heeft u een ... before ...-lijstje gemaakt? En hoe brengt u het ervan af? Ik ben heel benieuwd of bij andere mensen de prioriteiten ook zo kunnen verschuiven op een aantal maanden tijd. Ik ben vast niet de enige bij wie dat gebeurt, toch?

Tijd om mijn nieuw lijstje en mijn nieuwe voornemens te delen. 25 klinkt wel behoorlijk volwassen, vindt u niet? About time om nog eens werk te maken van die uitspattingskes, dus!

Ik ben eigenlijk heel blij met mijn verwezenlijkingen van afgelopen jaar! Oké, er stonden nog wel wat items op die ik best nog had kunnen en willen afvinken, maar die zijn dan voor een andere keer! No regrets, want ik heb een fantastisch jaar gehad! 14 van de 23 afgevinkt, niet slecht hé?

Binnenkort deel ik mijn 24 before 25-lijstje, want ja, ook dat heb ik uiteraard gemaakt!

So, um, yeah, I did a three day detox/juice cleanse in October, and by now I thought about (finally) putting up a blogpost.

I am by no means an expert, and am just sharing MY experiences. I hope this will inspire you to start detoxing yourself.

Detoxing your body has a ton of benefits and is good for your mind, body and health. The main reason why I wanted to try out a detox was to get rid of all the toxins, but also to boost my immune system. And I think that worked fine!

I thought about buying detox cleanse juices, but that would've cost me a fortune. So I prepared by doing a lot of research on healthy detoxing (check my Pinterest board if you're interested!), wrote down some key ingredients, went to the market, got myself a sh*tload of fruit and veggies and borrowed my sisters' juicer. (You could also use a blender for these juices.)

After that, it was time to get started! Before starting the cleanse, you have to start flushing your body with fluids (two days prior to the start date of your detox). After your juice cleanse ends, you can't immediately hurry to the closest snack bar but make sure you start going back to eating 'normal' meals slowly. It's okay to have three meals a day, but try to stick to healthy food.
I want to share my juice plan (which I just made up as I got along), but please don't follow this as your plan. Everyone's different and needs adjusted meals. Listen to your body!

Wednesday:

» Breakfast juice: 1/2 cucumber, 1 apple, 1 cup of spinach, 1 kiwi

» 2l water

The morning juices were awful (click to see what I looked like drinking the first one, haha!). The first two days I had a rough time drinking them, the flavour was just so unusual, nothing like I've ever drank before. I think it's because of the celery. I'm not a huge celery fan :) Apart from that, it wasn't that hard to persevere. Although I was feeling very hungry and sometimes even weak, and I encountered occasional headaches. I knew in advance this was possible. That's why I chose to do this detox during my vacation. I didn't have any big plans during those three days other than working from home, crafting and reading.

After the third day, I got up the next morning and was so happy I could finally EAT something again and nibble on some real food. At the same time I felt revitalized and so full of energy! (And in the next week, I noticed my skin getting a lot better. I had less breakouts and my skin looked a lot clearer! That must've been from all that water and all those vitamins getting in my belly :) )

This three day detox was definitely not that easy for me, but I'm going to make this a yearly habit.

I'm turning 24 on Feb 12 2015. To make this year a bit more challenging and fun, I made a list with 23 things I'd like to accomplish before turning 24. 6 months have passed so far and I'm here to share what I've done so far! You can check out the full list here, and in this post I will focus solely on the things I've achieved so far.




1. read 30 books: 12/30

April 11, 2014: http://bijgebrekaanbeter.be is a fact! After four years and one day I finally bought my own domain name. Yay!

I bought a Canon EOS 600D!

22. get healthier
I feel a lot healthier since I eat more veggies & fruits, and try to eat less candy & sugar, but this could still improve a lot in my opinion, so I'll get back to you by the end of my 23d year :)


23. be able to run 5km without undergoing mental or physical breakdown
I ran my first 5k on July 10 together with my mom. High five!

I still have quite a lot to do, first one on the agenda is definitely the 'get my nose pierced'. Sorry mom.

Only 342 more days to go and it's my birthday again ;-)
Last year's list was a lot of fun to try to complete, so this year will be no different. I made a list with 23 things I want to accomplish before turning 24. I'll make a separate page for the list where I'll keep myself (& you if you're interested!) updated about the progress I make.

As you can see below, I incorporated some of the items I couldn't cross of last year, but I also came up with new ones to help me get back on track with my health, crafts and even my blog. I hope this list will give me the extra push I need to get certain things done.

I can't wait to see what this new year of wisdom - haha - will bring me.

Last year I made a list with 22 things I wanted to accomplish before turning 23. On Feb 12th it was my birthday so it's about time to check on how I did!



1. Finish my first year of Journalism without resits
I had 0 resits, woo-hoo!

2. Stop eating fast food for at least a month
This one was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. I didn't miss fastfood all that much!

3. Take a month off of Facebook (4x one week, week 1, week 2)
This one on the other hand was a lot more difficult. It's incredible how much time I can waste on Facebook (& other social media). The weeks that I did disappear I felt a lot less obliged to do this or that, and it wasn't like anything major had happened what so ever without me being online 24/7 to check out everyone's profile. I feel like I learned a lot from these two weeks absence, and that was my intention, so I consider this one checked off as well!

4. Try a new recipe every month: 13/13
I tried out 13 new recipes. My fave has to be the scampi diabolique. It's soooo yummy.
(sugarfree sand cookies, yummy couscous, nutella cookies, white chocolate mousse, rhubarb crumble with coconut, mushroom soup, roasted egg plants, shrimp pasta with cream sauce, pepper soup with cream, vegetarian lasagna, scampi diabolique, pumpkin quiche, banana ice cream)

5. Try 22 different types of cocktails: 19/22
I didn't try 22 different cocktails, but I sure enjoyed the ones I tried. I'm a sucker for cocktails.
(red cairpiroska, nana banana, mango charango, brazilian night, homemade mojito, gin tonic, flying kangaroo, mexicano mex, mojino (mojito + caipirinha), mojicetea, elixir d'anvers daisy, banana daiquiri, basil, tom collins, frozen strawberry margarita, russian knockout, bananarama, coco bango, strawberry daiquiri)

6. Read 10 books: 12/10
Yay! I'm definitely back into reading. It took me a while to figure out how to make time for reading, but now I try to squeeze in a little bit of reading every other day. It relaxes me and I take so much pleasure out of reading a good book.

Nope. I still haven't figured out the perfect design (of course it has to be some sort of owl), but 2014 is the year!

These are two goals that I feel a bit sad about. I didn't incorporate photography in my life as much as I would like to, so I'm hoping that this year will bring a lot more photography projects!

15. Fill up 3 disposable cameras (& get them developed)
I filled up 3 disposable cameras, but 2 of them are still waiting to get developed. Results from the first batch you can check out here.

16. Dye my hair a different color 
Check, I dyed my hair dark red!

17. Organize a swap party
This one would 've been fun. But after a few months, I wasn't really sure I actually wanted to do this. I have waaaaay too much clothes, so it's better for me to sell or donate them, other than just stuffing my closet with more clothes I barely wear.

18. Throw another costume party/have a theme party 
I dressed up as a mexican sugar skull, my friend dressed up as a bloody nurse and we were the only ones dressed up at a party. It was hilarious!

19. Have a picnic
20. Go roller skating at least 3 times
I didn't go on a picnic nor roller skating once last year. Such a shame and something I definitely have to fix, because I love both activities.

21. Get an awesome student job
From February til August I worked at a pancake house, which was lovely. But after my move I started a job in a place that is waaaay closer to my house, and where I earn a bit more. So this one is definitely a check!

22. Get rid of the clutter (and way too much clothes) in my room
To be completely honest, I didn't really get rid of it just yet. All the stuff is still laying in my old room, waiting to be donated or thrown away. But, uuuh, I sorted everything out, so for me: it counts!

I made 12 resolutions come true, so maybe I expected a bit too much from myself. Challenging yourself is a good idea, if you can make it work. I'll keep that in mind for my 23 before 24 list, which will appear online somewhere next week. Stay tuned!

I present another attempt to get back into blogging more frequently :) Sorry I've been so absent (how many times did I say this in the past couple of months?), but I've been busy studying, working and moving.

This will be a little post updating you on the boring (and not so boring) stuff that's happened in my life lately!

In the past month I was able to stripe off a few things of my 22 before 23 list. On July 1st I moved in with the bf (apartment tour coming up!). When I got my results (0 RESITS, 3 months holiday here I come!) I couldn't resist drinking a few new cocktails to add to my list (they were all very tasty) and I'm making progress with some other plans as well. But more on that later!

I also made my very first own magazine. It was a school assignment, but I'm pretty proud of it. It's like my little baby. In case you're curious, feel free to check it out here. (Yep, that's me on the cover. Obligatory posing, yes indeed!) oh ps: it's written in Dutch.
I also got featured in DOHA Magazine, made by my sister and two of her classmates. I DIY'ed (how to make your own stamp out of an eraser). Oh and you can spot Eva, the cutiepie & DIY-queen, as well!

In other news: Pixel & Cera seem to grow up so quickly! But they're still adorable. Fun fact: Pixel is purring on my lap right now, and occassionally gets up to catch the mouse on the screen. ;-) Don't need no telly anymore when you have kittens around, that's for sure!

To my snailmail buds: it's taking me ages to write back because I don't have my writing supplies here yet. So bare with me a little longer and you'll be rewarded! Pinky promise.

I'm participating in the 100 things summer challenge. Basically in these summer months I'll have to throw out/donate/give away/sell 100 items. (If you want to read the rules and participate as well, click here. Shouldn't be having too much trouble with it, since everything is still in boxes and the apartment isn't that big, so I'll probably have to get rid of a lot of clutter. But I don't mind. Since we didn't have a real spring, this'll be my version of 'Spring Cleaning'.

Oh and last but not least: Google Reader seems to have shut down, and I'm afraid Google Friend Connect (GFC) might go away soon as well. So if you don't want to miss out on any new blog posts (irregular as I am) I recommend using Bloglovin'!
