It's Sunday again! And you know what that means, dontcha :) This is the last edition of Snail mail Sunday for 2012, can't wait to see what I'll be receiving and sending in 2013..



These last few weeks I've only received stuff. I love writing and putting together little packages but I can't seem to squeeze my letter writing in with all the work for school, boyfriend and friend time and general relaxation. My first resolution for the next year = make more time to write letters!

My letter to her got lost in the mail (boo-hoo!) but she still sent me some Christmas inspired mail. Look how pretty! That babushka is getting a top spot in my room!








From Saar:
Look how geometric & pretty the envelope is! Every time Saar sends me something my heart skips a beat. So thoughtful to sew a little cloud with rice in to warm up my hands while I'm in the train station waiting for my train to Mechelen. Aaaaah. ♥ And that postcard sure looks like an owl to me too!




I also received two pretty cards from two lovely gals that I didn't expect at all :)

The first one came from Jolien. She is such a great photographer. I really wish I could pick up letter writing with her.. I miss her lovely handwriting!




The second one (& owl themed!) came from Kelly. She included an orange-flavoured lipbalm & wished me an owly christmas. (I can assure you: owly it was!) I love it!

Hi everyone! How was your Christmas? Mine was awesome. I had amazing yummy food in the company of my bf and family. ♥♡♥ And I got a lot of owl stuff, but more on that later :)

Today I'm sharing some photos I made from owls that I discovered in shops, on the street, on people, ... but that aren't mine (too bad). I hope you find these inspirational!

















If you want to know where I found any of these owls, I'm afraid I can't help you. I don't exactly know in which shop I found them, but they're all seen in Prague, Madrid or Berlin.. As if that would help you, haha.

So tell me, what are your plans for New Year's Eve? I will celebrate it with my boyfriend, but we're not sure yet what we're going to do. Any ideas/tips to share?

He allemaal! (Wat een verademing, om na al die tijd nog eens in mijn moedertaal te bloggen :-) )

Vandaag heb ik een post voor jullie die nogal anders is van waar ik normaal over blog. Pixum.nl stuurde mij namelijk enkele weken geleden een mail met de vraag of ik een product wilde reviewen op mijn blog! En met de kerstdagen in het vooruitzicht kon ik natuurlijk geen nee zeggen. Ik besloot om te gaan voor een fotokalender. De website is héél gebruiksvriendelijk, alles wijst zichzelf uit en is zeer overzichtelijk opgebouwd. Je kiest het formaat voor je kalender, en kan dan foto's selecteren op je computer die worden geïmporteerd naar de website. Je kan ook per maand een ander ontwerp/lay-out kiezen, en dan je foto's onder de maanden verdelen. Ik ben natuurlijk geen topdesigner - en wilde het ook niet al te moeilijk voor mezelf maken dit keer - dus hield ik mijn kalender clean & simple. Hou je toch van wat meer frullen en prullen? Geen enkel probleem, de Design-kalender optie maakt het allemaal mogelijk voor een kleine meerprijs.

Ik bestelde mijn kalender vrijdagnacht 7 december (ja, ik ben er wel enkele uren zoet mee geweest, alleen maar leuk!), op 13 december kreeg ik een mailtje dat hij verzonden was en een dag later werd hij al netjes aan de deur geleverd - ware het niet dat er toen niemand thuis was. Woensdag vond ik de tijd om eindelijk een tripje te maken naar het postkantoor en zodoende was de kalender ruim op tijd voor de kerstdagen! Yay!

Over de kwaliteit maakte ik me op voorhand wat zorgen, aangezien sommige foto's die ik gebruikte met de webcam gemaakt waren. Maar zie ne keer hoe schoon! De kwaliteit heeft mij écht verbaasd! De kalender is zelf (uitgeklapt) trouwens 4 A4-tjes ofte A2 formaat.







Ik denk dat er ene blij gaat zijn met Kerstmis :-) En ik ben nu al blij, en zeer content!

Aangezien het mijn eerste bestelling was als nieuwe klant, kreeg ik er ook nog 25 fotoafdrukken zomaar gratis en voor niks bij! Ik vond dat een ideale gelegenheid om wat van mijn fototekeningen af te drukken, om eens te testen hoe dat eruit komt te zien. En tadaa, best wel schoon! (Binnen een paar dagen blog ik er nog eens over, trouwens)



Ik ben een gelukkig mens.

This is one damn fine place to eat breakfast! We paid less than €10 for a plate of deliciousness (I hear you asks what's in those little bowls? Well, creamcheese, guacamole, peanut butter, some kind of tzatziki, dried-tomato hummus and something we couldn't identify (but tasted good!) ). Accompanying the little bowls we got homemade bread, an egg sunny-side up, fresh fruit, a glass of fresh orange juice & a hot tea. Really cosy atmosphere.




» Anna Kriegbaum

One of the cutest little cafés I had ever seen. My friends drank coffee, I had an Almdudler. We shared a huge piece of cake and enjoyed every bite of it. The woman who owns this place was so kind. :)

A very cosy café where you can eat a delicious panini and drink a hot coffee or tea to warm up a bit. It's also really close to Friedrichstraße, which is thé shopping street where you can find all big multiple shop businesses.

Yes! Bagels for everyone! Do I even have to explain my love for bagels again? A quick stop at the Bagel Company is ideal if you have to hurry up but still want to eat something yummy.





» Humana Second Hand

A huuuuuge thriftshop, where you can find real bargains if you search for them. They have an awesome collection from/for "housewives in the DDR". I didn't really take pictures because I didn't know where to look first. But definitely a must go if you're into thrifting!

» Frieda Hain
Gärtnerstraße 10
If you're looking for the perfect fabric, visit Frieda Hain! They have amazing (owly!) fabrics (unfortunately it's not cheap)


» Schokokreation

Attention to all chocolate addicts: DO NOT ENTER. You will buy a looot of chocolate in here. You can even make your own chocolate! (But we didn't have the patience to wait in the line, since we were on our way to the Stasimuseum)


» Flohmarkt (flea market)
Mauerpark
Every Sunday there is a huge flea market in Mauerpark. Definitely worth a visit. My friend and I both bought warm winterboots for €9! What a bargain.




» The East side Gallery
Mühlenstraße
A very turistic place, but something you can't miss. The wall is a memorial for freedom. A lot of artists have cooperated in making this outdoor gallery.




» Der Universitätsbibliothek der Humboldt-Universität (or the central library of the Humboldt-University)

The most beautiful and motivating(!) library I've ever seen.


» Gedenkstätte Berlin-Hohenschönhausen

This is the former Stasi prison. For students the entrance really cheap, and there are guided tours (in English) every day (check their website for more info). Definitely a must go as well!

I always get happy when I see Mary's handwriting. Such a pleasure to read and receive her mail. She sent me a four-leaf clover card (this will bring me luck with the upcoming exams, right?), a card with a little quote, a card to tell me I'm amazing (♡, something I really needed that day) and a handmade bracelet that is so pretty!

Even though I haven't send Ely my reply on her mail yet, she still decided to send all her penpals christmas mail. She is too kind! I'm really curious about what's in the santa bag, but I'm not opening it until Christmas Eve :) Thank you sweet Ely!
